Digital parking at Region Dalarna — a smoother everyday life with Park46

Region Dalarna manages approximately 4,000 parking spaces for staff, visitors, contractors and business vehicles. In order to simplify administration and improve the user experience, Regionchose to digitize its parking management — a project in which Mobility46 played a key role.

Background & Challenge

Although staff parking permits were already digital, special permits and contractor parking were handled manually, leading to inefficiencies and high administrative strain. Jenny Larsson and Hannah Sänk, responsible for parking, carpool and leasing vehicles, identified a clear need for a unified system that could manage all permits digitally.

On top of that, there were limitations in the previous system, including the ability to make changes themselves, which made the work even more difficult. Region Dalarna needed a flexible, future-proof solution.

Solution & Collaboration

Mobility46 delivered a digital parking system that collects all types of permits on a single platform. The new system now manages staff parking, contractors and business vehicles digitally — eliminating the need for paper slips and simplifying day-to-day administration.

The transition to the new system occurred under time pressure, which meant a short period without valid permits. Region Dalarna solved this by temporary free parking and parking discs. Despite the challenges, Jenny and Hannah describe the collaboration with Mobility46 as very positive, where regular reconciliation meetings and good support made the whole process smooth.

Since its launch, the system has received positive response from users. It is perceived as user-friendly and clear, with clear functions that simplify both search and communication. A particularly appreciated feature is the ability to communicate directly with users through the app:
