Voltiva and Mobility46 sign agreement with SBB for installation and operation of 40,000 charging points
As part of its 2030 sustainability vision, Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB (publ) (SBB) plans to build 40,000 charging points around Sweden in the coming years. As a partner for the installation and operation of electric car charging and digital parking management, SBB has signed an agreement with Voltiva and Mobility46.

Increased demand for EV charging near homes and workplaces
Trends indicate strong growth in electric vehicles over the next ten years. As the number of EVs increases, so does the demand for charging. Statistics show that 80–90 percent of all EV charging takes place at home or at work. This means that more charging points must be established close to properties where people live and work.
Currently, society’s focus is on expanding the charging infrastructure — but we must also start thinking about how all these charging points will be operated and maintained. Otherwise, we risk facing large numbers of non-functioning charging systems in the near future.
Voltiva on the importance of operation and long-term thinking
“That SBB is investing in both the operation and installation of EV charging is a strategically smart choice — both from a business and sustainability perspective. Many are still thinking short term and overlook the long-term operational aspect of EV charging. But if you want your charging system to last over time, operations are crucial. We look forward to an engaging and meaningful collaboration,”says Mikael Ring, Co-founder and CEO of Voltiva.
SBB invests in EV charging and digital parking management
SBB understands the importance of operations for its future charging infrastructure and has, during spring and summer, evaluated several suppliers to help achieve this.
Since charging and parking are closely connected, SBB has chosen to sign an agreement covering both EV charging and digital parking management. Under the agreement, Voltiva AB is responsible for the design, installation, and operation of large-scale, property-based EV charging. Mobility46 AB provides, within the scope of the agreement, the system support for digital parking management.
A step toward climate-positive properties
“Together with our other sustainability initiatives across our property portfolio, this brings us closer to our goal of being climate positive by 2030,”
says Marika Dimming, Head of IR and Sustainability at SBB.
SBB has noticed growing demand from its tenants for EV charging near residential and commercial properties. This initiative therefore comes naturally — both to meet tenant needs and to contribute to a more sustainable society as we move away from fossil fuels together.
Collaboration to develop the parking of the future
“It’s incredibly exciting to work with SBB on developing the parking of the future. They’re a forward-thinking property owner determined to stay ahead when it comes to digital parking management. Through this partnership, they are also taking an active role in the transition to an electrified vehicle fleet,” says Johannes Asp, CEO and Co-founder of Mobility46.
Scope of the framework agreement
The framework agreement entered into force on September 1, 2022, and includes the design, installation, and operation of EV charging infrastructure. It also encompasses digital system support for parking management in garages and outdoor parking areas, including several digital tools — such as digital parking permits, EV charging subscriptions, and digital notifications and invoicing — all accessible through a single app for both parking and charging.
